DIY Biofilters
DIY Biofilters
I've made and used 5 of these DIY biofilters. Locally, here in Riverview Florida the 25gallon or 50 gallon food grade barrels are easy to find. (just go on craigslist).
The bulk heads can be purchased locally from 4 fish stuff or the FTFFA coop store in suncity florida.
For filter media I have: bioballs, scrub pads (5x7 scotch, green), diy scrubbies using material purchased from Joann Fabrics and cut up straws. I also used mesh laundry bags for the larger media and lingerie bags for the straws.
